  1. ABOUT MacApp...

  3. GENERAL INFO
  4. E.T.O. #1 contains MacApp® version 2.0 along with many supporting files, including the new MacApp browser, MacBrows™, and some new unsupported MacApp samples.  All of these are located in the MacApp folder within the Tools - Objects folder. Additional information that may be useful to MacApp users is located in the Essentials folder in the MacApp Documentation and MPW 411 folders.

  6. FEATURES & BENEFITS
  7. • MacApp 2.0 makes application development better on the Macintosh.  
  8. • MacApp has the class library which supports a standard Macintosh application.  
  9. • MacApp has the tools necessary to develop such an application: 
  10.      ViewEdit and the MacApp browser (once called Mouser, now called MacBrows).  
  11. • MacApp has the debugging aids you’ll need: 
  12.      Object inspectors and a debugger.

  14. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  15. • MPW 3.1 or THINK Pascal 3.0
  16. • Macintosh Plus or later with 2 MB or more RAM.

  18. VERSIONS INCLUDED IN E.T.O. #1?
  19. In the MacApp folder within the Tools - Objects folder:
  20. • MacApp 2.0
  21. • MacBrows, a new browser (in the Experimental enhancements folder)
  22. • Windoid code for tear-off windows (in the Experimental enhancements folder)
  23. • “CRC Cards” and “MacApp Drafter” (in the Unsupported Samples folder),  sample programs which are also tools for MacApp users.

  25. In the MacApp Documentation folder within the Essentials folder:
  26. • New versions of the MacApp 2.0 Class & Method Reference stacks (replacing the beta versions that were originally included with the MacApp 2.0 product)
  27. • The information from the new MacApp 2.0 Class & Method Reference stacks in a format that can be used with the new MacBrows or with MPW 3.2

  29. ABOUT THE PRE-RELEASE VERSION
  30. The replacement for Mouser, called MacBrows, adds the major feature of being able to read documentation files used with MPW 411.  We have included the MacApp Class and Method Reference in this format.  Now you can read documentation for MacApp methods, along with viewing the source code, all with the same tool.

  32. USING MacBrows
  33. To use MacBrows, you will have to reparse files used with Mouser.  The added feature of reading documentation files from MacBrows should make the transition worthwhile.
